Waking Up With Elisabeth Dudai
We’re so excited to introduce this morning routine series to the blog—it felt like a natural progression. Elisabeth Dudai (@itsthellisa) is our first feature—we love what she shares. She’s a content creator & morning lover, and she was one of the first to share our journal on socials, so we had to have her on. She starts her day at 6:30 a.m., and we’ll let her take over from here.
FIRST THINGS FIRST
The first thing I do after waking up is drink a glass of water and write in my journal. It’s been a part of my routine for the past few years, and it really helps me manage anxiety. I do it both before bed and first thing in the morning—my journal is always waiting for me on my bedside table.
MORNING MUST-HAVES
I use the SleepCycle app—it helps me track my sleep and wake up at the right time, which honestly makes such a difference. Slow, gentle mornings are my favorite. I also open the window for fresh air while journaling. Little things that make the start of the day feel soft!
MOVEMENT
I’m definitely not someone who works out in the morning year-round—especially in winter. My mornings are slow and quiet, and that’s how I like them. But when the weather gets warmer, everything shifts. I start craving movement—but only the kind that actually feels good. I love Pilates (whether it’s a reformer class or just stretching on a mat at home), going for a light run with my partner, or—if we’re lucky enough to be living by the water in summer—an early morning swim. It’s such a dreamy way to start the day, and it always makes me feel more present and clear-headed afterward.
BREAKFAST & BEVERAGES
Breakfast is honestly my favorite part of the day, so I treat it like a little ritual. Every Sunday, I go to the market and buy fresh produce from local farmers. Lately, I’ve been loving baking my own sourdough bread or rye buns in the morning—there’s nothing like the smell of fresh bread filling the house. Soft-boiled eggs with cheese, a slice of warm bread with butter… it’s simple but perfect. I never eat breakfast in a rush—I always carve out time for it. As for drinks, I switch between filter coffee and a matcha latte with coconut milk, depending on the mood.
HOW ELISABETH’S MORNING ROUTINE HAS CHANGED OVER TIME
It’s definitely changed a lot. In my early 20s, mornings felt rushed—I’d wake up and immediately start thinking about everything I had to do. But over time, I started craving more slowness and intention. Now my mornings are much softer: journaling, making breakfast, lighting a candle, etc. It’s become my way of grounding myself before the day begins.
THE IMPORTANCE OF A MORNING ROUTINE
My morning routine is how I take care of myself before the world asks anything of me. It sets the tone for everything that follows—when I start the day slowly and intentionally, I feel more present, more grounded, and more connected to myself. It’s my favorite time of the day. It’s a quiet space where I check in, reset, and remind myself of what actually matters.
TAKEAWAYS
I used to think wellness had to be complicated—strict routines, perfect habits. But over the years, I’ve realized that the smallest rituals, done with care, have the biggest impact. My mornings aren’t about productivity; they’re about presence. I feel calmer, clearer, and more in tune with myself. And that, to me, is what wellness really is—like coming home to yourself again and again.
